A Brief Overview The Kaba ARIOS security concept closes a security loophole in RFID applications. Its security mechanism is based on a data key. This data key can be easily shared or discovered by

the wrong person without your knowledge. The Kaba ARIOS security concept helps users to keep their data key secure to prevent it being disseminated or manipulated without them noticing and to improve the system's security level.

A central element of Kaba ARIOS is what is known as the security card. This security card generates the site key and is highly encrypted. The site key is never seen. System operators in possession of this card have total control over your system and its badges. This security card is also protected by a PIN/PUK system. Even with badge orders, system operators keep their security card in the building. Kaba ARIOS produces an individual code for the badge manufacturer for each badge order. Only when the new badges are supplied, is this code converted into a site key in a secure Kaba ARIOS process such that illegally produced badges could not be used undetected.

The security chips present in all Kaba ARIOS components are another important security element. These security chips ensure that the Kaba ARIOS data passed between the reader and badge is highly encrypted and can never occur in non-encrypted form outside the components. This setup protects the system operator
against common attack scenarios such as what is known as reverse engineering. The Kaba ARIOS security mechanisms even extend as far as the individual badges. This means that the data encryption for each and every badge is individual and potential attackers have no chance of working out the encryption of the entire system.
